What’s Not To Love About Alpacas?

Never having met an Alpaca before, I was not sure what to expect.  We had met Vern Purdham, owner of Chantilly Ridge Alpacas, at the New Smyrna Farmers Market a few months ago, and he invited us to come see his Alpacas.  So one Sunday we did, and now I’m hooked.  They are the sweetest creatures!  Their large eyes pull you in and you can’t help but smile.  I mean, just look how cute they are!

When you visit the farm, feeding them is the highlight, at least it was for me.  They are so gentle and they tickle your hands with their tongue when you feed them.  So much fun!  Chantilly Ridge Alpacas is open daily from 10am to 6pm and Vern and Fran Purdham are so welcoming and friendly just like their Alpacas. But if you have a party over 10, please call in advance to make arrangements.

Be Sure To Visit The Gift Shop20150905_102128

While there is no fee for admission, don’t leave without visiting the gift shop for a variety of Alpaca goodies. From yarn to sweaters and everything in20150815_143516 between.  Unlike sheep’s wool, Alpaca fur is soft so they even make teddy bears out of the fiber, awesome!  Fran also makes balls that go in your dryer that act as fabric softner, it last up to a year and is hypo allergenic and has no chemicals. Amazing!  So I ask you, what’s not to love about Alpacas?

See you at the Beach!
